About "Who we Are"

The Alak'ina Foundation (http://www.alakainafoundation.org/index.htm) actively supports the development of educational opportunities for the youth of Hawaii. Through the Hawaii Source Outreach (HSEO) program, The Maui Digital Bus Project is aligned with HSEO's technology goal to develop skills among the local youth that will result in a more highly qualified workforce in the Islands.

The “Digital Bus” is a mobile science and technology lab supporting K-12 schools and community organizations throughout Maui Nui. As a part of the Hawaii Source Education Outreach program, this mobile learning platform offers field-based, engaging science projects at outdoor locations and at school sites. HSEO also offers paid internships for students in the fields of engineering and information technology.

All curriculum utilized in Hawaii Department of Education Schools is aligned to the Hawaii State Content and Performance Standards for Science and Technology Education. In the 2005-2006 school year, the Hawaii Source Education Outreach Program expanded its reach by providing staffing and curriculum to the “Techno Studio Bus” on the Big Island of Hawaii. In 2007 and 2008 The Digital Bus program visited the island of Moloka`i.
