About Us

This program provides ahupua`a experiences to middle school students of limited means on Maui and Oahu for the 2008-2009 school year. Teachers and students from economically disadvantaged schools, particularly charter schools, will participate in a unique curriculum and develop a new personal relationship with the islands watersheds, forests, wetlands, and coastal ecosystems. They will have an enhanced understanding of these natural environments and the tools and methods necessary to be their wise stewards. These hands-on investigative programs have been developed into a comprehensive learning experience that meets Hawaii Content and Performance Standards in Science.

With state of the art technology, the Digital Bus will provide HNC's Ahupua`a campers with up-to-date equipment used for field data collection, water testing, mapping, and other scientific investigations. The specific investigations will be designed to enhance the students' watershed experience.
